I made a screenprint from my recent trip up to Scotland featuring the lovely yellow gorse and the isle of Arran in the distance beyond the shining sea. Here are some photos from the workshop at Oxford Printmakers of it all coming together. And it's available in my shop!

I have been working on some pretty patterns inspired by lovely scottish views on my recent trip to sunny Inverkip on the West coast. We went on a day trip for ice creams in Largs and a stroll around Portencross with glorious views of Arran in the distance, the shining sea and hazy shades of blue. We finished the day with a very tasty homemade burger at the Inverkip Hotel. The nice collection of lobster pots, buoys and piles of rope was spotted in Rothesay harbour on another day trip to Bute, on the ferry from Wemyss Bay.

I am currently in Inverkip, a very pretty village on the west coast of Scotland. Following on from the yellow Oxfordshire countryside in the last post, the gorse bushes here in Scotland have glorious bright yellow flowers right now. I got the watercolours out and made a gorse flower pattern, there is a hint of granny-chic about it, like it maybe belongs on a hanky or some crockery. I thought about picking some gorse to put in a vase but quickly realised it's far too prickly so didn't bother.
